BANYAN TREE UNGASAN CELEBRATES SILVER MEDALS AT INDONESIAN SALON CULINAIRE 2013
Jakarta, Indonesia, April 2013 – Banyan Tree Ungasan, Bali proudly secured Silver medals at Indonesian Salon Culinaire 2013 held at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran from 10 – 13 April 2013 organised by the Association of Culinary Professionals (ACP) also a member of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS). The competition encourages young professionals to work and compete in a team, as well as display their talents in catering. The Indonesian Salon Culinaire Competition was held in conjunction with the Food and Hotel Exhibition Indonesia, bringing 623 chefs from hotels and resorts throughout Indonesia who competed for top honours.
The team from Banyan Tree Ungasan comprised of 3 junior chefs of Ju-Ma-Na restaurant who competed in The Junior Asian Chef Challenge category subject to four judgement criteria of taste, presentation/innovation, professional preparation and work methods. The culinary team from Banyan Tree Ungasan won three silver medals by creating a three course set menu including Tuna Marinated with assorted fruits, Wagyu duo with black nut sauce, and Coconut & Jack fruit panacota.
The award winning team was led by Mr Satya Utama Alit Mendala and 3 junior chefs:
- Leonard Njoto Chandra
- Ni Made Suanjani
- Ida Bagus Gede Ananta Putra
The culinary team were judged by a panel of overseas chefs based on the criteria of creativity, presentation, taste and feasibility of operational execution. Exhilarated at their win, the Executive Chef of Banyan Tree Ungasan, Mr Agus Wiryawan said, “We believe with this great achievement, will educate the junior chefs in their skill, motivation and self confidence that will also certainly inspire more creations for our guests at Banyan Tree Ungasan.”
